Advisor, Standards and Operational Efficiency

We are seeking a Technical Advisor to serve as the technical focal point for mine action operations in Ukraine, collaborating closely with government ministries and stakeholders. The role involves enhancing National Mine Action Standards, monitoring security situations, and delivering impactful training courses in both Ukrainian and English. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in the humanitarian mine action sector, effective leadership in workshops, and diplomatic interpersonal skills.


Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate closely with the Country Programme Team and other Advisors within various operational themes.
  • Strengthen and nurture existing partnerships with Ukrainian government Ministries, institutions, mine action organizations, and other stakeholders involved in mine action.
  • Acquire and enhance a comprehensive understanding of Ukrainian legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to National Mine Action Standards (NMAS).
  • Foster a deep knowledge of global standards, including International Mine Action Standards (IMAS).
  • Advocate for the enhancement of NMAS through workshops, thematic working groups, and direct on-site assistance in reviewing and drafting improved, cohesive, and contextually appropriate national standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Deliver training and technical support to Ukrainian authorities, focusing on enhancing the operational efficiency of Explosive Ordnance (EO) survey and clearance. This involves promoting innovative approaches to operational planning and land release activities.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of training courses in key thematic areas of land release, customizing them to the Ukrainian context and conducting them in the official language.


Qualifications:


To thrive in this role, you should possess:

  • Serve as the technical in-country focal point, providing expertise for operations in Ukraine.
  • Propose recommendations for enhancements and actively contribute to technical tasks assigned by the line manager.
  • Monitor the security landscape in Ukraine, collaborating with relevant stakeholders as needed.
  • Demonstrate fluency in spoken and written Ukrainian, coupled with proficient English communication.
  • Showcase a track record in humanitarian mine action, including hands-on experience managing or implementing land release operations, delivering diverse training courses, and leading workshops.
