We are working with a high-growth technology organisation delivering advanced platforms that support large-scale, compute-intensive workloads across enterprise and government environments.
Their solutions are designed to operate across hybrid and on-premise infrastructure, enabling high-performance processing, scalability, and efficient orchestration of complex workloads. The environment combines modern cloud-native architecture with high-performance computing (HPC) and data centre networking.
As part of continued growth, they are looking to hire a Network Engineer to support the design, validation, and deployment of scalable networking solutions across multiple environments.
Role overview
The Network Engineer will play a key role in designing and supporting data centre and Kubernetes-based networking environments. Working closely with systems, platform, and DevOps teams, you will help ensure network performance, scalability, and reliability across complex distributed systems.
This role sits at the intersection of data centre networking, cloud-native platforms, and high-performance compute environments.
Key responsibilities
- Support the design and development of network architectures, including LLDs, topology diagrams, and deployment plans
- Review vendor proposals, BOMs/BOQs, and technical designs to ensure alignment with architecture and performance requirements
- Contribute to the development of standardised configurations, automation frameworks, and deployment processes
- Provide technical expertise across routing, switching, and data centre network design
- Ensure network designs support high-performance workloads, including low-latency and high-throughput environments
- Work closely with platform and systems teams to integrate networking with compute and storage architectures
- Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to embed networking requirements into platform design
- Validate new designs, hardware, and configurations in lab or staging environments prior to production
- Support troubleshooting and escalation of complex networking issues, working with internal teams and vendors
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, and best practices to support operational consistency across deployments
Required experience
- 4–7 years of experience in network engineering within data centre, cloud, or distributed environments
- Strong understanding of L2/L3 networking, routing protocols, and modern data centre architectures
- Experience producing technical documentation including LLDs, diagrams, and interconnect designs
- Proven ability to review vendor designs and ensure alignment with technical and operational requirements
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes networking, including CNI, ingress/egress, and network policies
- Exposure to high-performance networking environments, including low-latency or high-throughput systems
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Python
- Familiarity with monitoring, performance optimisation, and network observability in distributed systems
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work across cross-functional engineering teams
Desirable experience
- Experience with HPC networking technologies (e.g. RoCE, InfiniBand, or similar architectures)
- Exposure to GPU-based or compute-intensive environments
- Experience working in hybrid or multi-cloud environments
- Vendor certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering, or related field
Why this role
- Work on next-generation platforms combining cloud-native and high-performance infrastructure
- Exposure to complex, large-scale environments with real technical depth
- Strong collaboration across architecture, platform, and engineering teams
- Opportunity to influence standards, design, and scalability in a growing organisation
