A specialist Tourism Statistics Subject Matter Expert is required on a long-term contract basis to support the design, configuration, and implementation of an advanced tourism analytics platform. This role is ideal for a senior expert who can translate complex statistical methodologies into practical data models, calculation engines, and reporting workflows.

You will work closely with the project team across critical phases, ensuring that the platform aligns with internationally recognised tourism statistical standards and multi-partner frameworks.

What you’ll do

• Validate business and statistical requirements to ensure methodological rigour in the platform’s design.
• Support development of KPI taxonomies and alignment with international tourism statistics standards.
• Advise on mapping statistical frameworks into data models, calculation logic, and publication workflows.
• Contribute to stakeholder engagement with partners involved in co-produced data frameworks.
• Lead input into TSA proxy methodology design where direct data sources are limited.
• Review platform outputs for statistical accuracy, consistency, and usability.

What you bring

• 10+ years of experience in tourism statistics, tourism economics, or national accounts.
• Proven track record working with national statistical offices, tourism authorities, or international organisations on TSA-related projects.
• Hands-on expertise with IRTS 2008, TSA:RMF 2008, and/or visitor expenditure surveys.
• Strong ability to convert methodological requirements into technical platform specifications.
• Confident stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to advise both technical and business audiences.
