We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with a strong foundation in Linux systems, network infrastructure, and virtualisation to join our team. This role is hands-on and focuses on physical server deployments, network architecture, and the management of virtualised environments. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with hardware, network equipment, and hypervisors in production settings.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain physical Linux servers and related hardware components
• Design, implement, and manage on-premises and remote network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and VLANs
• Build and administer virtualisation platforms (KVM, Proxmox, VMware, LXD) to support scalable compute clusters
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using scripting and tools such as Ansible and Terraform
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, networking, and virtualisation issues across physical and virtual environments
• Manage hardware procurement activities, including supplier coordination and delivery tracking
• Maintain vendor relationships and oversee hardware lifecycles, warranties, and support agreements
• Implement and maintain security controls, backups, network segmentation, and high-availability architectures
• Monitor infrastructure performance and health using industry-standard monitoring and logging tools
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to infrastructure-related incidents

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Linux systems administration
• Hands-on experience with physical server deployment and maintenance (RAID, BIOS, IPMI)
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts, including VLANs, routing, DNS, firewalls, and VPNs
• Proven experience with virtualisation technologies such as Proxmox, KVM, and VMware
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash or Python
• Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
• Familiarity with backup strategies, disaster recovery, and monitoring solutions
• Experience managing vendors, hardware procurement, and supply logistics
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to infrastructure reliability
