We are supporting a leading provider of advanced communications and networked systems in the UAE, seeking a Senior Network Systems Engineer to take ownership of the design, delivery, and ongoing operation of secure, mission-critical network infrastructure.

This role sits at the intersection of network architecture, system delivery, and operational support. You’ll play a key role in designing and optimising complex network environments, while working closely with engineering teams and end users to ensure systems are robust, scalable, and fit for purpose.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, configuration, and lifecycle management of secure network systems, including both commercial and custom-built solutions
• Own the deployment, optimisation, and performance of network services across live environments
• Troubleshoot complex networking issues across routing, switching, VPNs, multicast, and VLANs
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventative actions
• Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware teams to support integration and interoperability
• Contribute to system upgrades, patches, and release validation to ensure operational readiness
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and operational procedures
• Work directly with end users to support effective operation and adoption of deployed systems
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and operational staff
• Feed back into engineering teams to improve system performance, resilience, and usability

Required experience & skills

• Strong background in network engineering, infrastructure delivery, or communications systems
• Proven experience designing and supporting complex IP-based network environments
• Deep understanding of networking protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, multicast, routing protocols)
• Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade network equipment (e.g. Cisco or equivalent)
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in live, high-availability environments
• Strong documentation skills, including network diagrams and technical specifications
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Self-sufficient, with the ability to operate independently within structured environments

Desirable experience

• Experience operating within secure sites or highly regulated environments
• Exposure to distributed or deployed network systems
• Familiarity with automation or scripting (e.g. Python, Ansible)
• Experience working in the UAE or wider GCC region
• Background supporting integrated communications or multi-system environments

Certifications (Preferred)

• CCNP or equivalent (CCIE advantageous)
• Additional certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or ITIL are beneficial

Additional requirements

• Must be eligible to obtain security clearance
• Willingness to work on-site within secure facilities
• Comfortable operating in high-reliability, operational environments
